12 Drymen Road, Bearsden
So instead of reworking the old bungalow at 12 Drymen Road, we started from scratch. In its place we are creating a beautiful 4 bedroomed (possibly 5 depending on how you opt to use the space) stone villa that’s made for contemporary living.
Aesthetic and affordable.
To Stone-built, affordability is every bit as important as aesthetics. Smart lighting and heating, with an energy efficient boiler that can be controlled remotely from your mobile, keep running costs low. While Lutron Grafik Eye mood lighting and hardwiring for SKY, Virgin or BT at all TV points, keep comfort and functionality high.
More space, less waste.
The previous bungalow had featured a central entrance that created a corridor, making open plan living impossible. Instead, the new 12 Drymen Road features a side entrance which brings you into the centre of the home without carving up space.
The entrance may no longer be a centre point but it will remain a focal point, with oak columns either side and an Italian-style arcade to shelter you from the sun or perhaps, even more importantly in Bearsden, the wind and rain.
More light needn’t mean less privacy.
To the front of the home, the formal lounge features a bay window with a difference. It still has a corner window but interestingly has a portion of stone. So you can at once enjoy light and space as well as privacy. Also to the front on the ground floor is a study or fifth bedroom big enough to accommodate a double bed.
A family home made for family living.
To the rear, with direct access onto the sun terrace and thoughtfully designed enclosed garden, there’s an open plan kitchen with a dining area and family space. There’s a discrete utility area with its own direct access to a drying area in the garden, keeping the more sociable area clean and clutter free. There’s a sizable cloakroom and toilet also on ground level as well as a spacious and, thanks to dual aspects, light-filled fourth bedroom.
The urbane, oak clad staircase takes you to the upper floor which has two spacious bedrooms with amply built-in storage space and a good-sized family bathroom as well as the en suite master bedroom which has a separate dressing area.
